Vile Monarch, a hard rock games studio from Warsaw, is looking for someone who is able to tell a story through gameplay and create engaging narrative content. Currently more than 40 royal followers reign in the studio, including veterans (who worked on This War of Mine, The Witcher series, Dying Light or Hard West), that in 5 years shipped 4 successful games, conquering PC, Android, iOS, PS4, Xbox One and Switch.

Vile Monarch feeds on creativity - we love making fresh things of different sizes, for different platforms, in different genres. We focus on compelling fantasies served through expertly designed game systems. Currently, we’re working on 3 bigger, unannounced titles: one of them is a 3D management strategy game which is in the late pre-production phase, the others are an ambitious 2D project already being developed in full swing and a magical 3D management game early in development. We are seeking for a professional who can not only write, but inspirit our game worlds with interesting frames for emergent stories. Someone who can empower game atmosphere and intended message using game language such as gameplay, systems, and content complementing them with fine writing. Our advanced 3D management strategy is the one that currently needs such a role - It’s a mature game that needs mature, insightful kind of writing.

Requirements

• Creative writing experience (on similar position or demonstrated by published work)
  
• Expert English, both spoken and written
• Exceptional understanding of game medium and its narrative methods
• Erudition - knowledge about pop-culture, games, and various story tropes
• Ability to write respecting established structure, and technical convention
• Discipline and self-reliance, organized work style
• Willingness to work full-time in Warsaw (we allow Home Office during pandemic though)
• Love for games, knowledge of various platforms and genres

Nice to have

• Content or/and System game design skills
• Experience with managing a localization kit
• Love for games, rock music and wide knowledge about recent meme trends
