Game Porting Programmer a.k.a. Port Captain

dla Vile Monarch w Warszawa

Praca stała Programowanie

Vile Monarch, a hard rock games studio from Warsaw, is looking for someone who remains sensitive in any case. Doesn’t matter if it’s upper, lower, or camel... Currently more than 60 Monarchs reign in the studio, including veterans (who worked on This War of Mine, The Witcher series, Dying Light or Hard West), that in 6 years shipped 4 successful games, conquering PC, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS, PS4, Xbox One and Switch.

  • Crush Your Enemies - multiplatform bite-sized RTS
  • Oh...Sir!! The Insult Simulator - hit party game based on building absurd sentences
  • Oh...Sir! Hollywood Roast - a spin-off in the world of film
  • Weedcraft Inc - ambitious tycoon game about the marijuana industry

Vile Monarch feeds on creativity - we love making fresh things of different sizes, for different platforms, in different genres. Our focus is compelling fantasies served through expertly designed game systems. Currently, we’re working on 3 bigger, unannounced titles: each very different, there’s realism and fantasy among them, humor and maturity, 3D art, and 2D. All of them have management and strategy elements, but different amounts. And we’re not stopping here, hoping to start new projects soon! We need a captain who will help us conquer various ports - including next-gen consoles - where we could ship these three games, as well as our future titles or indie hits developed by our allies.

Responsibilities

  • Porting games to multiple platforms
  • Close collaboration with the QA team in the porting process and fulfilling certification requirements
  • Game input adjustment
  • Memory usage optimization
  • Communication with platforms’ tech teams
  • Diagnosing and fixing all platform-specific bugs
  • Creating and maintaining a company-wide porting package

Requirements

  • Unity Engine and current generation consoles experience - at least one multi-platform project finished
  • Very good C# knowledge
  • Experience in optimizing, profiling, and debugging
  • Ability to read and understand existing codebase
  • Discipline and self-reliance, organized work style
  • Very good English, both spoken and written
  • Willingness to work fully in Warsaw
  • Love for games, knowledge of various platforms and genres

Nice to have

  • UE4 experience
  • Experience in C++
  • Technical degree
  • Experience in graphics programming (shaders)
  • Love for beer, rock music, and hermetic science jokes

We offer

  • Fair salary
  • An important role in an ambitious game (or games!). We aim for compact, mid-scale projects (1-2 years of development, 10-30 people)
  • Stable job with flexible work hours
  • Working in a comfortable, air-conditioned office close to a metro station (Dworzec Gdański). Bonus: it’s on the 23rd floor, so the view is stunning.
  • Encouragement for self-development: we often sponsor conference attendance, organize in-house lectures and have a library of specialistic books.
  • Our programmers can devote some of their work time to research technical subjects of their own choosing.
  • Emphasis on mutual care and mental health (including professional support)
  • Very informal, friendly atmosphere - gaming and partying together, company trips, a fridge full of beer.
