Game Designer - rhythm game

We are a group of 16 passionate game creators working on amazing titles, some of which are based in the Lord of the Rings 💍 universe, as well as some unannounced IP’s. Black Sail Games has a great organizational culture founded on respect, freedom of opinion and long-term investments into staff 😊.

We are currently looking for a Game Designer with passion for music and rhythm games. Your primary duty would be to lay grounds and support the development of our new game with a highly innovative take on music’s role in the gameplay.

Main responsibilities 🧩

• Design and prototype gameplay mechanics & systems
• Provide and update precise documentation about the above, as well as other features and story
• Generate and share game ideas with other designers, developers and artists
• Collaborate cross functional team to brainstorm, design, implement and balance game experiences
• Work closely with programmers to ensure a smooth implementation of your designs -> communication is key

Desired qualifications 🤹‍♂️

• 2+ years professional experience as Game Designer
• Passion for rhythm games
• Passion for music (directed education is a PLUS)
• Fluent level of English
• Knowledge of Game Design theory (systems & mechanics, learning curve, difficulty balancing, pacing, reward, accessibility)
• Ability to generate and formulate abstract-concepts in an easily digestible manner for the rest of the team
• Experience in Unreal Engine is a PLUS
