Our client offers the most advanced virtual reality experience in the world. Inside their VR rooms they take you on thrilling adventures and transform you into new characters. Since they launched in Hong Kong in 2017, they’re now live in 12 locations and 4 countries around the world and they are quickly expanding.

They are now looking for experienced Senior Technical Artist. This position can be either based in Hong Kong or 100% remote.
As a Senior Technical Artist your main focus is to bridge the technology gap between artists and programmers. You are mainly concerned with the development and implementation of tools that efficiently facilitate the creation of game assets, and ensure the said assets are taken through the entire development pipeline.
You are mainly hands-on, working with the Lead Artist to implement and execute the vision of the Lead Artist in a cost-effective and efficient way.
You will work closely with the Creative Director and Lead Artist to understand and translate their vision into a working pipeline which can develop the required art assets. You will be heavily involved in all areas of visual development and responsible for the outcome of the game performance (consistent FPS, etc.).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Optimizing assets and game levels to ensure high performance.
Creating Visual Effects using your significant experience in that area.
Assessing the internal choice of game engines to determine the strengths and weaknesses of each one and recommend those that could meet expectations in terms of graphics and iteration speed.
Test the engine that is selected or developed, request enhancements, verify all engine-related documents, and modify or draft new documents whenever necessary.
Developing or determining optimal tools and methods to enhance and facilitate the work of the art team.
Testing tools before they are deployed and ensuring that they function properly throughout the production process.
Coordinating and being the main point of contact between the art and programming teams.
Communicating technical constraints and the reasons behind them to the art team on a regular basis.
Establishing the naming scheme for files created by the art team in order to structure file location and ensure the information is easily found.
Proactively foreseeing technological issues and needs before they occur (game design, level design, etc.).
Providing constant technical support for tools and the engine, to every member on the art team.
Supervising the design, integration and validation of art data in the engine.
Being the point of contact for graphics issues during knowledge-sharing activities.

REQUIREMENTS:

You have a minimum 4+ years of professional experience in computer-generated art, including proficiency in lighting and FX.
You have an intimate knowledge of Unity , Maya and any other tools that are required by the team (candidates with UE4 experience will also be considered)
You are a strong technical artist with a good artistic eye.
You have lots of enthusiasm and initiative.
You have excellent spoken and written communication skills.
You have a commitment to quality, documentation, and sound testing procedures.
You have shipped a minimum of 3 shipped titles (PC/VR/ Console), from concept to final.

You have a strong personal interest in video games and knowledge of industry trends and innovations.
You have experience working on VR projects.
You are a passionate VR Gamer and/or VR Enthusiast.
You have worked with a combination of on-site and off-site developers before.
