About MetaGravity

MetaGravity is a deep-technology startup headquartered in London which is solving the concurrency problem in simulation for massive virtual worlds and games. Current game engines and game servers can handle a peak of ~100 players in a self-consistent “instance”. However, the next generation of online games and metaverse experiences demand much larger simulated realities beyond what is currently feasible — think, tens of thousands to millions of players and AI beings! MetaGravity is solving this problem. Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced game developer (Blueprints/C++) to join us at MetaGravity to work on our persistent MMO game set in a fantasy world, and to work on third-party Metaverse projects, including some of the more recognisable AAA studios, supporting our internal engine and art teams. As an Unreal Game Developer, you will be contributing to the vision for MetaGravity Studio’s core IP. You will have a deep experience, love and intuitive feel for games and a passion for working in agile and dynamic teams. The ideal candidate will already have experience in open-world multiplayer or MMO game programming.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain our technology integrations with industry-standard games engines to enable our customers to build and operate games and online experiences supporting millions of users in a single shared reality.
  • Implementing game systems in close cooperation with the design and QA team.
  • Profiling and optimization of the code base.
  • Resolving technical issues, debugging, and bug fixing.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of experience in Unreal Engine and Blueprints
  • Experience of leading game development teams in fast-paced environments
  • Experience in C++
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment
  • Strong project management skills
  • Good verbal and written English skills
  • Experience with source-control for large game projects

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Expertise in low-level, high-performance code
  • Understanding of network protocols and architecture, specifically TCP/IP stack and experience with QUIC

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field OR
  • Demonstrably self-taught on both theory and practice

Location

We operate on a hybrid remote/cluster resource model. This role can be located in one of our development hubs in Warsaw (Poland), Colombo (Sri Lanka), or Dubai (UAE). Fully remote opportunities (work anywhere worldwide) are available for exceptional candidates.
