About the Project
We are creating a cooperative horror game that prioritizes technical excellence, atmospheric detail, and narrative depth. As the Unreal Engine Lead Engineer, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining the technical foundation of the project, ensuring high-quality implementation of systems and features while aligning with the creative goals of the project, and planning and coordinating the delivery of the Engineering team’s goals.

Qualifications:

  • Professional Experience: 5+ years of experience in game development, with a focus on Unreal Engine (UE4/UE5).
  • Leadership Skills: Proven experience leading engineering teams, managing priorities, and delivering high-quality projects on time.

Technical Expertise:

  • Proficiency in C++ and Blueprints.
  • Deep understanding of Unreal Engine systems (e.g., rendering, physics, animation, and AI).
  • Experience with gameplay programming, networking, and multiplayer systems.
  • Optimization Knowledge: Strong knowledge of performance optimization for both CPU and GPU.
  • Cross-Platform Experience: Familiarity with development for PC and next-gen consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X/S).
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and debugging skills.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Development: Oversee and guide the development of gameplay systems, tools, and pipelines using Unreal Engine 5, ensuring high performance and scalability.
  • Team Management: Coordinate and oversee the engineering team's workflows, ensuring clear communication, task prioritization, and alignment with project milestones.
  • Optimization: Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks across multiple platforms (PC, consoles).
  • Code Architecture: Develop and maintain robust, reusable, and scalable codebases while adhering to best practices in game development.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate closely with designers, artists, and other engineers to implement core game features and ensure technical alignment with the creative vision.
  • Mentorship: Provide technical mentorship and guidance to a team of engineers, fostering growth and knowledge sharing.
  • Problem-Solving: Tackle complex technical challenges, including AI behavior, physics, lighting, and audio integration.
  • Pipeline Development: Design efficient workflows and pipelines to improve the development process and ensure smooth asset integration.

Nice-to-have Qualifications

  • Experience with horror game mechanics or atmosphere-driven gameplay.
  • Knowledge of advanced rendering techniques and shader development.
  • Familiarity with AI programming and behavior trees for dynamic character interactions.
  • Passion for creating immersive horror experiences.
