Animator (New team)

for Donkey Crew in Wrocław / Hybrid / Remote

We are looking for an Animator to join an entirely new team based in Poland, focused on co-developing titles within the Snail Games USA portfolio.

In this role, you’ll collaborate on an exciting variety of projects, including both well-established IPs and new titles. You'll have a unique opportunity to be part of the studio’s growth and influence its culture from day one while working on creative, dynamic projects with passionate teams from other parts of the world.

Job Duties

  • Animation Production: Create high-quality animations for a variety of characters, creatures and props including movement, combat, idle, and interaction animations that bring assets to life.
  • Collaboration on Gameplay Needs: Work closely with the team to ensure animations align with gameplay mechanics, such as riding, combat, taming, and resource gathering.
  • Technical Integration: Collaborate with the Technical Artist to integrate animations into Unreal Engine, ensuring smooth transitions, performance optimization, and compatibility with rigs and skins.
  • Behavior-Driven Animation: Develop animations that enhance behavior and interaction within the game’s AI systems, supporting immersive and reactive experiences.
  • Feedback Iteration: Respond to feedback from both local and external leads, refining animations to meet visual standards and gameplay needs.
  • Documentation: Maintain clear documentation of animation processes and requirements, ensuring consistency and aiding future development within the animation pod.

Requirements

  • Experience in Animation: 3+ years in animation in games.
  • Unreal Engine Experience: Proficiency with Unreal Engine, with a preference for experience in UE4/5 or earlier versions.
  • Proficiency in Rigged Animation: Strong skills in working with rigged models, creating believable movement and dynamic interactions.
  • Gameplay-Driven Approach: Ability to create animations that not only look realistic but also enhance gameplay and player interaction.
  • Cross-Discipline Collaboration: Excellent communication skills for working closely with designers and technical artists to ensure animations meet both artistic and technical requirements.
  • Attention to Detail: Keen eye for animation quality, ensuring assets feel lifelike and visually cohesive within the game’s world.
  • English Proficiency: Good written and verbal English skills to enable clear communication.

Bonus Requirements

  • Experience with Survival Games: Familiarity with titles like Ark or Atlas and an understanding of the unique animation needs for survival games.
  • Modkit Knowledge: Familiarity with Ark or Atlas Modkits for integrating and customizing animations within the game environment.
