For our brave tribe MATABOO we are looking for a talented Visual Alchemist (3D Generalist) to join our new project. If you have vast experience in various art areas in gamedev, such as creating 3D assets, working with level art, game lighting, materials, shaders, and strong technical knowledge and skills, join us!
MATABOO supports developers and publishers at every stage of their projects. We specialize in co-development, porting, remasters, remakes, optimization, bug fixing, and other tasks for seasoned programmers. Our expertise spans across Unreal Engine, Unity, and proprietary engines. Whatever game platform or engine you choose, we are here to assist you.
MATABOO works closely with renowned studios, including Warner Bros. Games, Rocksteady, Frogwares, GSC Game World, Kepler Interactive, Bloober Team, Creepy Jar, Tate Multimedia and The Farm 51. We provide extensive support for titles like Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Gotham Knights, Tchia, Chernobylite, Green Hell, The Medium, Kao the Kangaroo and the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. and Sherlock Holmes game series.

What will be your main responsibilities? What will you be working on?
- Make sure that all assets created by the art team shine in the new renderer provided by the code team. Communicate closely about needs and take part in fine-tuning the assets’ look and feel to meet the high quality bar set by benchmark products.
- Work closely with the Concept team to align with the project’s artistic vision and provide feedback on whether a certain look is achievable. If needed, provide paintovers or participate in feedback rounds to facilitate communication between tech art, concept art, and the code team.
- Create scripted solutions, Substance Material trees, shader instances to ensure that all assets look as good as the ones signed off by the client in the beauty corner. If possible, create a Houdini solver or provide simulation data from software of your choice.
- Collaborate with other development teams to ensure smooth assets implementation, support gameplay or level art needs.
- Create high-quality 3D assets including props, architecture and nature elements based on concepts & references.
- Integrate 3D Assets into the engine, while ensuring they are efficient, optimized and meet the technical requirements of the project.
- Maintain visual consistency by understanding and adhering to the art style guide and established pipeline.
- Meet project deadlines and maintain strong communication with the team.
- You will be working on a game remaster.
What kind of professional are we looking for?
- At least 4 years of experience as a 3D artist, preferably generalist or tech art oriented generalist - we are looking for a person who did many types of tasks and is not an expert in a narrow field.
- Having a strong portfolio showcasing multiple asset creation experience.
- A genuine willingness to learn and improve.
- Experience in working with materials, shaders, and environmental art.
- Basic knowledge about the game lighting, scattering, fog, weathers, etc.
- Proficiency in Adobe Substance 3D and a 3D software of choice.
- Good knowledge of Photoshop (or similar software).
Additional advantages will be:

- Familiarity with traditional Japanese art style and basic knowledge of Japanese culture history.
