Company Description
Covenant is a Warsaw-based game development studio dedicated to crafting unique, high-quality gaming experiences. Led by a former CD Projekt RED producer, it operates with a lean, agile structure that prioritizes creativity, empowerment, and a crunch-free work culture—earning the title "Best Place to Work" in 2021.

Covenant debuted with the dark fantasy strategy game Gord (PC, XBX|S, PS5) in 2023, followed by its expansion, The Alliance, and Across the Wonderlands – Appetizer Demo (PC) in 2024.

The studio is currently developing a new dark fantasy RTS game, codenamed DOLYA.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with artists and developers to create and implement visual effects and shaders in Unreal Engine
  • Create and improve the visual fidelity of game assets in Unreal Engine
  • Enhance and optimize lighting in Unreal Engine scenes for visual quality and performance
  • Optimize game assets to ensure high performance across platforms
  • Develop and maintain tools and pipelines to streamline the art production process
  • Work with existing and build new real-time physics systems for cloth, hair, soft and rigid objects
  • Work closely with the art and design teams to ensure visual consistency and quality
  • Troubleshoot and solve technical issues related to art production
  • Co-create a project schedule, roadmap, technical feature design, plans, milestones, and tasks with a dedicated Producer
  • Contribute to the overall game design and vision
  • Demonstrate care and commitment to quality software development
  • Communicate effectively via the Project Management System (ClickUp), providing regular time estimates and maintaining up-to-date worklogs
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest game development technologies and industry trends

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Tech Artist with a strong portfolio showcasing work in Unreal Engine
  • Proficiency in creating shaders and visual effects in Unreal Engine
  • Proficiency in creating models and textures for game-ready assets
  • Proficiency in lighting setup in Unreal Engine
  • Strong understanding of 3D art and animation pipelines
  • Experience with optimization techniques for game assets
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Good knowledge of advanced rendering techniques such as PBR
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Nice-to-have

  • Shipped at least one commercially available game
  • Experience with the Substance suite and/or Houdini
  • Experience with continuous integration and deployment systems
  • Fluent English (C1/C2 level)
  • Experience in using generative AI tools

  • Salary: 8,000–16,000 PLN net/month (B2B contract), or the equivalent amount adjusted for an employment contract, depending on skills and experience
