Senior Technical Animator
We’re looking for a Senior Technical Animator to join Ibru, our story-heavy RPG blending investigation, systemic gameplay, and a distinct myth-punk aesthetic.
This is a hands-on, production-critical role focused on implementing and integrating animation within existing gameplay systems.
What you’ll do
- Implement character animations in Unreal Engine and wire them into existing gameplay mechanics and systems
- Set up and maintain Animation Blueprints, state machines, blend spaces, montages, and IK solutions
- Adapt existing animations to our animation pipeline, gameplay constraints, and technical standards
- Support other animators by helping integrate, troubleshoot, and optimize their work in-engine
- Work with multi-mesh characters (modular bodies, clothing, gear) and ensure animation consistency across them
- Handle MetaHuman characters and adapt their animation setups to gameplay needs
- Implement and troubleshoot cloth systems (Chaos Cloth or equivalent) in production scenarios
- Collaborate closely with gameplay programmers, designers, and character artists to ensure animation supports mechanics, pacing, and readability
- Debug animation-related issues and propose robust, scalable solutions
- Help establish and refine animation pipelines and best practices for the project
What we’re looking for
- Senior-level experience as a Technical Animator or equivalent role
- Strong, practical knowledge of Unreal Engine animation systems
- Proven experience with MetaHumans, cloth simulation, and multi-mesh character setups
- Experience working with existing animation libraries and adapting them to production pipelines
- Solid understanding of animation logic, runtime performance, and systemic interactions
- Comfortable owning features end-to-end and supporting less technical animators when needed
- Clear communicator who can explain technical constraints without blocking creative work
Nice to have
- Experience on narrative-driven or RPG projects
- Familiarity with motion capture pipelines and retargeting
- Scripting or light programming experience (Blueprints preferred)
- Interest in stylized or non-standard animation approaches
