We are looking for a Senior 3D Artist to add to one of our our Art teams within the Rustic Roost studio. Rustic Roost is a sister company of Donkey Crew which focuses on co-developing titles within the Snail Games USA portfolio which Donkey Crew and Bellwright are a part of.
This is a senior-level position for a versatile 3D artist with strong expertise in hard-surface production and organic asset creation, including vegetation, natural forms, and alien or otherworldly structures. You will take ownership of high-quality asset creation across a variety of projects, including well-established IPs and new productions. You will also help define visual standards, refine pipelines, and mentor other artists, shaping both the team and the studio’s artistic culture.
Responsibilities
- Hard Surface Production: Create complex, production-ready hard-surface assets including vehicles, weapons, Ships, architecture, props, machinery, and industrial elements, ensuring AAA-quality from blockout to final polish.
- Organic & Alien Asset Creation: Design and sculpt organic assets including vegetation, natural terrain elements, and alien or fantastical structures. Confidently handle non-terrestrial shapes, unusual materials, and otherworldly surface details for environments, props, and hybrid assets.
- Optimization & Engine Readiness: Ensure all assets are game-ready, optimized for performance, with clean topology, proper UV layouts, and balanced texel density. Assets must maintain visual fidelity without compromising real-time performance.
- Texturing & Material Definition: Produce high-quality textures and materials for both hard-surface and organic/alien assets, following PBR standards and project art direction.
- Artistic Interpretation: Translate concept art and references into compelling in-game assets, making informed creative decisions for both natural and alien/otherworldly designs.
- Pipeline Contribution: Help refine workflows for both hard-surface and organic/alien asset creation. Suggest optimizations and maintain consistency across the pipeline.
- Quality Control & Mentorship: Provide feedback to other artists, ensuring high-quality output for hard-surface and organic/alien assets. Mentor junior artists in modeling, sculpting, and optimization techniques.
- Planning & Collaboration: Estimate tasks accurately, manage priorities, and collaborate closely with Art Direction, Tech Art, and Design teams to meet visual, technical, and gameplay requirements.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a 3D artist in game development (PC/console).
- Strong portfolio demonstrating hard-surface assets and organic/alien assets, including wireframes and UV layouts.
- Advanced hard-surface modeling skills (mid-poly workflows, weighted normals, floaters, trim sheets, modular systems, bevel optimization).
- Strong sculpting skills for natural and alien/otherworldly forms (vegetation, terrain, structures, hybrid designs).
- Proven ability to create optimized, real-time ready assets.
- Strong understanding of PBR workflows and material creation.
- High proficiency in industry-standard modeling and sculpting software.
- Solid understanding of topology, UV layout, and texel density management.
- Strong time management and production awareness.
- Strong written and spoken English skills.
Nice to Have
- Experience integrating assets in Unreal Engine 4 or 5.
- Experience with Substance Designer or similar texturing tools.
- Understanding of composition, lighting, and environmental storytelling.
- Experience with procedural workflows or emerging 3D generative tools (e.g., Rodin AI).
- Experience on shipped titles.
We Offer
- Competitive salary.
- Opportunity to work on well-established and new IPs in an international environment.
- Hybrid / remote work model.
- Benefits package and relocation support for candidates relocating to Poland, including private health insurance and settling assistance.
