Anshar Studios is seeking a talented Freelance Character Artist to join our team, either remotely or on-site, and contribute to our upcoming projects. Currently, we employ over 180 specialists at our studio in Katowice, and we are always open to new talented artists eager to join us. Responsibilities:
- Model and sculpt characters, as well as organic and hard-surface props, including their clothing, groom, and accessories, while respecting project style and quality standards.
- Use Marvelous Designer to create realistic, high-quality garments that complement character designs.
- Create textures and materials for Unreal Engine 5.
- Develop and optimize characters for real-time performance, ensuring proper topology while maintaining design quality.
- Ensure that characters integrate well with provided rigs and function smoothly in-game.
- Collaborate with Art Directors, Team Leaders, Concept Artists and Animators to achieve cohesive storytelling through character design.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience in Character Art.
- Professional knowledge of ZBrush.
- Experience creating textures using PBR workflows in Substance Painter.
- Excellent knowledge of modeling, optimization, UV mapping, and exporting assets to game engines using any 3D software (Blender, Maya, 3ds Max or other).
- Basic ability to rig and skin models using existing rigs.
- Communicative English, spoken and written.
Pluses:
- Advanced Unreal Engine expertise for character creation.
- Experience with cloth simulation tools in a game engine.
- Strong proficiency in Marvelous Designer, with the ability to create realistic, high-quality garments.
- Outstanding candidates with expertise in one of the following niche areas: advanced rigging, complex real-time grooming, or look development and shading for real-time engines.
- Strong foundation in classical drawing and sculpting techniques.
