In Planetary22 we are building a mobile 3D social game focused on player interaction, world progression and live-operated gameplay systems.

We are currently looking for a Game Economy Designer who will take ownership of designing and balancing the core economy and progression systems of the game.

This role is heavily focused on creating engaging gameplay loops, monetization systems and long-term player progression.

What you will do:

• Design and balance core game economy systems (currencies, rewards, sinks, progression)
• Build and maintain progression systems for player and world development
• Create engaging gameplay loops that drive retention and replayability
• Design and balance monetization systems (F2P mechanics, offers, bundles, events)
• Own the pacing of the game (difficulty curve, progression speed, reward cadence)
• Create and maintain spreadsheets and documentation for all economic systems
• Balance multiple existing and planned interacting systems to ensure a healthy and scalable game economy
• Work closely with product and analytics to improve KPIs (retention, monetization, engagement)
• Iterate on features based on data, player behavior and team feedback
• Design and support live events and FOMO-driven systems
• Conduct research, benchmarking and propose improvements to game systems

Requirements:

• Minimum 3+ years of experience in mobile F2P game design (strong focus on economy)
• Experience designing and balancing systems such as:

  • economy and currencies
  • progression systems
  • rewards and incentives
  • pacing, queues, difficulty curves • Experience working on at least one live or released mobile game • Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills (must-have) • Deep understanding of F2P monetization strategies • Experience working with analytics and KPIs • Experience designing offers, bundles and monetization features • Understanding of live ops systems and event design • Experience working with configuration data (e.g. JSON) • Familiarity with analytics tools (Firebase, AppsFlyer, etc.) is a plus • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking

Nice to have:

• Experience with social systems
• Experience designing 3D gameplay systems
• Experience working in startup environments
