THE VISION

CD PROJEKT RED is looking for a Technical Artist who will work closely with Art/Animation and Code departments, providing support for asset creation, rigging, exporting, shading, physical setup, performance and general troubleshooting. As a Technical Artist you will be responsible for keeping our engine and game technology up-to-date by developed new solutions and researched quality and performance improvements.

DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES IN A NUTSHELL

  • Prototyping / researching new features, including:
  • Rendering and shading,
  • Dynamic in-game systems (physics, simulations),
  • External and internal tools (Art / Animation).
  • Analyzing and improving rendering performance.
  • Improving quality (rendering, animation, physics).
  • Maintaining and expanding existing content creation pipelines, including internal tools development.
  • Identifying, and foreseeing biggest risks in the production pipeline.

REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • At least one year’s experience in game development or CG in a technical role supporting environments or character creation.
  • A deep understanding of 3d modelling / animation packages (Maya, Motion Builder, 3DS Max).
  • Knowledge of game engines (especially the render and animation side).
  • Familiar with at least one scripting (or programming) language (python, C++, C#).
  • Expertise in troubleshooting and solving problems.
  • Knowledge of vector calculus, linear algebra, [bonus] differential calculus.

NICE TO HAVE

  • Ability to foresee problems and performance bottlenecks.
  • Experience in setting up rigs and general (keyframed) animation.
  • Experience in Houdini.
  • Understanding of DirectX / OpenGL, knowledge of shading language (hlsl preferred).
