
Superkami is a fully remote studio led by industry veterans. In 2021, we set out to create "Sengoku Dynasty," a cross-genre survival-builder set in Feudal Japan. In August 2023 we released the game into Early Access, and in November 2024 we reached another milestone – the 1.0 launch.
We're now looking for a talented and driven UI/UX Designer to work with us on a new project. You will have an opportunity to work in a small, agile team on a game awaited by a large community of devoted fans. Be there from the start – and help us shape a new classic!
Role
You will be responsible for creating the user experience and interface for our new game. That will entail:
- Collaborating closely with designers, artists, and programmers to translate the core gameplay loop and player fantasy into an intuitive and visually cohesive UI/UX
- Designing and documenting UX flows and UI requirements to guide concepts, implementation, and testing
- Creating wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups for all in-game interfaces (including diegetic)
- Creating guidelines for UI assets
- Ensuring UI elements are highly readable and adhere to accessibility standards
- Iterating on designs based on internal feedback and playtesting
- Preparing, organizing, and optimizing UI assets for efficient integration by the development team
Key Skills
To thrive in this role, you should:
- Be proficient in industry-standard design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.
- Be proficient in Unreal Engine 5, including Unreal Motion Graphics (UMG) and Widget Blueprint system (creation, configuration, optimization)
- Have a solid understanding of color theory, typography, composition, user-centered design, information architecture, and usability
- Be able to work independently and articulate design decisions clearly, while collaborating effectively with a cross-functional team to maintain a collective vision
- Be able to conceptualize, analyze, and solve problems in the context of user experience.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience designing UI/UX for PC or console games, and mutliple games under your belt
- A strong portfolio showcasing your work with user interfaces (menus, HUD, inventory, dialogues, etc.)
- Advanced English (B2/C1+ level)
Preferred
- Experience designing coop games
- Understanding of player psychology
- Knowledge of game design fundamentals
- Experience with UI Animation systems: UMG Animations, Sequencer, material-based animations
- Experience with localization pipelines
- Familiarity with Jira and Notion
- Knowledge of platform guidelines (Steam, Epic, GOG), and console certification requirements
