Title

One More Level is the studio behind the adrenaline-pumping Ghostrunner series & first-person soulslike - Valor Mortis.

We are currently scaling up for our next big challenge: Project Swift. We are looking for an experienced, combat-oriented Game Designer who knows how to make every move, strike, and enemy encounter feel impactful and rewarding.

As a Game Designer on Project Swift, you won’t just be "filling spreadsheets." You will be the architect of the player’s experience, bridging the gap between creative vision and technical implementation.

What Will You Do (Responsibilities):

  • Combat & Enemy Design: Design and implement diverse enemy archetypes, AI behaviors, and boss encounters that challenge players and fit the game's pace.
  • System Architecture: Create and balance core gameplay systems, including player movement, combat mechanics, and character progression.
  • Arsenal & Abilities: Design satisfying skills and weapons, ensuring they feel unique and integrated into the overall combat loop.
  • Difficulty Orchestration: Define and fine-tune the difficulty curve to ensure a "tough but fair" experience that keeps players in the "flow" state.
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Act as a bridge between Art, Animation, and Programming. You will provide constructive feedback to ensure all elements align with the gameplay vision.
  • Prototyping: Rapidly prototype new ideas using UE5 Blueprints to test feel and viability.

What We Expect (Requirements):

  • Experience: At least 2-3 years in a Game Design role within the AA/AAA space.
  • Track Record: At least one shipped title on PC/Console (participation in a full production cycle from pre-production to release).
  • Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Unreal Engine 4/5 is a must, specifically regarding Blueprints visual scripting.
  • Design Mindset: A deep understanding of gameplay loops, player psychology, and combat pacing.
  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills. You can articulate complex ideas clearly and stay open to creative feedback.
  • Independence: A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to make informed design decisions under deadlines.
  • Tools: Proficiency with Jira and Version Control Systems (Perforce/Git).
  • Language: English at a B2/C1 level (you will be creating and consuming technical documentation).

Bonus Points (Nice to Haves):

  • Experience in designing high-speed action games or FPP/TPP combat systems.
  • Strong math skills for economy and progression balancing.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages or a technical design background.
  • AI Implementation: Familiarity with integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) or generative AI into gameplay systems (e.g., dynamic NPC interactions, procedural narrative, or adaptive difficulty).
