Title

Hi! We are One More Level – a still-growing team of over 70 people, both seasoned veterans and talented newcomers to the game development field. We create fast and action-packed games. Our game – Ghostrunner – was well received, with over 92% positive reviews on Steam. Also we published Ghostrunner 2 which was nominated for Game Awards! Right now we’re working on Valor Mortis – our game was one of the biggest reveals on Gamescom 2025.

We want to create unique, bold and conceptually independent games that can challenge AAA productions in terms of audiovisual setting. We believe in team spirit, shared vision of our projects and transparency – every aspect of our work is based on these values.

Title

What We Expect (Requirements):

  • Expertise in Game AI Architecture: Deep understanding of AI decision-making algorithms, structural patterns, and the architecture of AI controllers.
  • Advanced C++ & Unreal Engine: Proven track record of writing clean, high-performance C++ code specifically within the Unreal Engine ecosystem.
  • Gameplay Ability System (GAS): Strong, hands-on experience architectural design and implementation using the Unreal Gameplay Ability System.
  • UE5 Blueprint & Data Architecture: Knowledge of Blueprint combined with a highly structured approach to using Data Assets for data-driven design.
  • Track Record: At least two released games AA or larger, involved in at least one from begginning to release.
  • Language: English at a B2/C1 level

Preffered Experience:

  • Navigation & EQS: Proficiency with the Environment Query System (EQS) and advanced NavMesh configuration/optimization.
  • State Management: Practical experience utilizing State Trees (or advanced Behavior Trees) to manage complex agent states.
  • AI-Animation Pipeline: Deep understanding of the AI-to-Animation bridge, including Animation Blueprints, UAnimInstance, Anim Notifies, Blend Spaces, and Aim Offsets.
  • Physics & Awareness: Familiarity with Perception algorithms alongside a solid grasp of physics assets and physics-driven animations.

Bonus Points (Nice to Haves):

  • Next-Gen AI & LLMs: Experience exploring or integrating LLMs into Unreal Engine 5.
  • Engine-Level Knowledge: Ability to dig into the UE5 source code, understand its inner workings, and modify/extend engine-level systems.
  • Advanced Animations: Familiarity with Motion Warping and working within Sequencer.
  • Portfolio: A link to a GitHub/Bitbucket profile or a technical portfolio showcasing AI implementations, code samples, or past projects.

What Will You Do (Responsibilities):

1. Architecture & Core Gameplay AI Development

  • Design and Implement Advanced AI Systems: Architect and develop robust, scalable AI decision-making algorithms and AI controllers utilizing C++ and Unreal Engine 5's Gameplay Ability System (GAS).
  • Behavior & State Management: Create, maintain, and optimize complex State Trees, Behavior Trees, and data assets to drive intelligent agent behaviors.
  • Perception & Sensing: Maintain, enhance, and optimize the game’s perception algorithms to ensure realistic agent awareness and environmental interaction.

2. Navigation, Spatial Awareness & Optimization

  • Environment Query System: Implement and fine-tune the Environment Query System (EQS) to facilitate tactical spatial reasoning for AI agents.
  • Navigation & Pathfinding: Configure and optimize NavMesh systems to ensure smooth, efficient pathfinding across complex game levels.
  • Performance Optimization: Profile, debug, and optimize AI-related code and systems to meet strict frame-rate and memory budgets.

3. AI-Animation Integration

  • Animation Blueprints: Connect AI logic and visual execution by working closely with Animation Blueprints
  • Dynamic Animation Systems: Implement Anim Notifies, motion warping, and physics-based animations/physics assets to deliver responsive character movement.

4. Innovation & Next-Gen Systems (R&D)

  • LLM Integration: Take part in the research, prototyping, and production-ready integration of Large Language Models (LLMs) within Unreal Engine 5 to pioneer dynamic NPC interactions.

5. Collaboration, Quality, and Documentation

  • Cross-Discipline Collaboration: Partner closely with the Game Design team to translate creative visions and gameplay mechanics into technical requirements and robust AI systems.
  • Testing & Validation: Conduct rigorous technical testing of AI implementations to ensure stability, edge-case coverage, and a polished player experience.
  • Technical Documentation: Author clear technical design documents (TDDs) and systems documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing across the engineering team.
