About LYNXBYTE GAMES

LYNXBYTE Games is a Polish game development studio specializing in console porting and co-development services for PC and console games.

We help international developers and publishers bring their games to new platforms through:

  • Nintendo Switch / Nintendo Switch 2 porting
  • PlayStation and Xbox development
  • Co-development support Technical adaptation and optimization

Our clients range from indie developers to established international publishers. Over the last year, the company has scaled rapidly, expanded its client portfolio, and started working on significantly larger productions, including AAA-level projects.

About the role

We're looking for an experienced Game Designer ready to take the next step into Creative Direction - someone who understands what makes a game special and can help us preserve and strengthen that experience throughout development.
At LYNXBYTE, we have strong technical expertise. What we're looking to strengthen is the creative side of our projects - making sure we don't just deliver technically successful ports, remakes, and remasters, but games that stay true to the original vision, identity, and expectations of their creators.
You'll work directly with developers and publishers to understand their games, align on the creative direction, and guide that vision from initial discovery through development milestones to the final product.
This is a hands-on, client-facing role. You won't be managing developers or running day-to-day production. Instead, you'll be the person who understands the creative vision, challenges decisions when something doesn't feel right, brings fresh perspectives, and makes sure everyone is working toward the same result.

Responsibilities

Creative discovery & client relationships

  • Lead creative discovery discussions with developers and publishers to understand their games, vision, and expectations
  • Identify the core elements that define each game's identity, gameplay experience, and IP
  • Understand what should be preserved, improved, or reimagined when bringing a game to a new platform or generation
  • Build confidence with clients by demonstrating a genuine understanding of their games and creative goals
  • Bring an expert perspective to client discussions, challenge assumptions when appropriate, and propose improvements based on your experience

Creative direction & vision

  • Define and maintain a shared creative vision with the client throughout the project
  • Translate creative expectations into clear principles and actionable guidance for development teams
  • Guide decisions around gameplay, game feel, UX, presentation, and the overall player experience
  • Ensure ports remain faithful to the original game while remakes and remasters evolve in ways that respect the original IP
  • Act as the creative reference point whenever the team faces decisions that could affect the game's identity or player experience

Game reviews & quality feedback

  • Regularly play and evaluate development builds from a player's and game designer's perspective
  • Provide clear, constructive, and actionable feedback on gameplay, UX, game feel, visuals, and overall quality
  • Identify inconsistencies, missing details, and opportunities to improve the player experience
  • Work with producers and technical leads to prioritize creative improvements within the project's scope and constraints
  • Make sure the game is not only technically ready, but also delivers the intended experience

Milestone reviews & creative communication

  • Participate in key milestone presentations and client reviews
  • Present the game's creative progress, explain design decisions, and demonstrate how the project is evolving
  • Help clients understand the reasoning behind creative choices and proposed changes
  • Gather feedback, resolve differences in expectations, and maintain alignment between the client and development team
  • Support the project through to its final creative review and acceptance

What we expect

  • Strong background in game design or creative direction, ideally with experience as a Senior/Lead Game Designer, Creative Director, or Game Director
  • Experience working on shipped PC or console games
  • Deep understanding of gameplay, game feel, UX, player experience, and what makes games engaging
  • Ability to analyze an existing game, identify its defining characteristics, and explain what makes it work
  • Experience providing practical design feedback and reviewing playable builds
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to discuss and defend creative decisions with clients
  • Confidence to challenge creative assumptions, offer alternative perspectives, and support recommendations with practical industry experience
  • Ability to balance creative ambitions with technical limitations, production timelines, and project budgets
  • Independence and confidence in making recommendations rather than simply reporting problems
  • English at a level where you can independently lead creative discussions with international developers and publishers

Strong advantages

  • Experience working on major, internationally recognized games or established gaming IPs, particularly in a Creative Director, Game Director, or Senior/Lead Game Designer role
  • A proven track record of making meaningful creative contributions to successful or widely recognized titles
  • Experience working directly with established publishers, IP owners, or international development teams
  • Experience with porting, remakes, remasters, or adapting existing games to new platforms
  • Ability to bring insights and best practices from previous productions into new projects and communicate them convincingly to clients

We offer

  • Hourly rate based on experience (B2B/UoD/UZ)
  • Part-time engagement, approximately 20-30 hours per month
  • Fully remote work, with flexible working hours and availability for scheduled client meetings Multisport
  • Direct collaboration with international developers and publishers
  • Real influence over the creative direction and quality of games brought to new platforms
  • Opportunity to work on a variety of projects, from independent productions to established gaming IPs
  • Close collaboration with our technical leads, producers, and management team
  • A growing studio expanding beyond traditional console porting into larger remakes, remasters, and co-development projects
