Game Designer

PARASIGHT [https://parasight.studio] - is an independent game development studio and the creator of BLACKTAIL, the critically acclaimed action-adventure game inspired by the legend of Baba Yaga.

Our latest title DAVY x JONES, launched in Early Access in 2025, marking the next chapter in the studio's journey.

You will help shape and deliver the game’s gameplay experience, translating the project’s creative direction into clear, playable, well-communicated features - and driving them from concept through implementation, iteration, and polish.

We are looking for someone who can take ownership of game design, communicate clearly across disciplines, and keep features moving without relying on constant top-down direction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conceptualize, design, and prototype core gameplay mechanics (UE 5), ensuring alignment with the game's creative vision and player experience goals
• Take ownership of assigned gameplay features from concept through implementation, iteration, balancing, and polish
• Coordinate the implementation of assigned features, identify dependencies and risks early, and help keep design work moving forward
• Develop detailed game documentation, including feature outlines, gameplay scenarios, and design specifications
• Support playtesting, analyse feedback, and turn findings into concrete design improvements

ESSENTIAL

• 3+ years’ experience in game design with at least one shipped AA+/AAA title
• Strong design and analytical skills, with an ability to craft fun and balanced game experiences
• Solid understanding of game mechanics, player psychology, and what makes a game captivating
• Experience with Unreal Engine 5; Blueprint experience is a strong advantage
• Ability to clearly communicate design decisions and work effectively across multiple disciplines
• Strong ownership, organisation, and problem-solving skills, with an ability to identify risks and propose practical solutions
• Team player with excellent communication skills
• Passionate gamer with enthusiasm for exploring and understanding various game genres and mechanics

• Previous experience or knowledge in narrative design or world-building
